Avast and Outpost, low maintenance?

Got to put some AV and a firewall on for some friends who've NEVER had them before. Thinking from the point of updates, am I right in thinking that Avast has automatic updates which require no user input. Outpost, which I have and so far has never had to have an update, should also be low maintenance. Any comments? TR

bump

I use Avast and Outpost (free Version) on my PC's.

Avast will automatically update the Virus Database, and can, if required, also be set to automatically update the program, but I have mine set to just inform me of the program update.

I don't think the free version of Outpost will be updated - so I've switched this option off.

Yeah, pretty much what I thought. I think I'll use these, in case they forget to update. Thanks TR
