Windows XP Pro

Automatic Updates set to Download and I'll decide when to install.

Automatic Updates Service - Automatic and Started

BITS Services - Automatic and Started

New updates out two days ago. On Tuesday, Wednesday and today several times the yellow shield displays in the notification tray, states Downloading Updates 0% and then disappears.

Been going on for months now....

Any ideas?

Try the Windows Updates page and see if you can get anything there. It worked for me yesterday.

You`re right

Yes it does, but that's not the point really of having "Automatic Updates".

Technotiger - as i stated above -

"Automatic Updates set to Download and I'll decide when to install.

Automatic Updates Service - Automatic and Started

BITS Services - Automatic and Started"

So sadly it's not the same thing.

Now it's actually downlaoding them.... 23%

I have had this problem for a while. Sometimes they download other times the symbol just sits there saying 0%.

If you have selected Notify Me Of New Updates But Let Me Decide What To Install or words to that effect), as you appear to have done, then you have to click on the Taskbar icon.

This will bring up a panel.

Choose Customise and view the information about each update. Uncheck the ones you don't require and click OK.

..or Download as the case may be.

Also check the box about not wanting to be reminded of unwanted updates.
