Automatic Update

My Problem,

I clicked on the shield in the systems tray, and it said "updates are ready for your computer.
Clicked on it, choose updates to install (automatic updates window) ticked box beside
Security update for flash player (KB923789). If I click on install, it comes up "Updates
are being installed".
Then a notice, "The following updates have not been installed Security Update for flash
player (KB923789).

The install shield comes back after a few seconds into the systems tray.
How do I get rid of the flashplayer update (KB923789) if nothing has been installed and
I dont want it anymore.

I went on "Search" found the update and a file in the Prefetch folder with the number
(KB923789), I then deleted both and empted the Recyle Bin after a few seconds the install
shield returns to the system tray with (KB923789) ready to be installed.
I then do another search and find they have returned.

If I turn off automatic updates I am left with the "Windows Defender" shield sitting in the system tray.

Thank you for your help.

Re-install KB923789 and then re-boot the PC.
