Auto Responder

I have windows XP pro and use outlook 2002. I would like a very simple method of atuo responding to e mails in my absence. Is there an alternative to the very expensive microsoft exchange. To use this is like using a sledge hammer to crack an extremely small nut.
Thank you

beware of what you say in an auto responce, do not invite a crim in while away
