Audio problem

I have just watched a video on Youtube and the sound was most strange, as if it was a cartoon, high pitched or on helium.
I have tested other videos and it is my sound quality that is at fault.
I can see no changes in my audio settings.
Anybody know what this could be ?

It may be a codec issue or a driver prob. Force device manager to reinstall the audio driver. (xp often says the driver already installed is okay when it isn't.)

I have tinkered about with what I believe are my sound card settings AC97 Audio Configuration from the task bar.
It was set to Room for the environment, I wrung some changes and it sounds best as Carpeted Hallway.

Why it had changed I have no idea, the HRTF and speaker test, sounded OK before I altered the environment setting.

But anyway all is well now thanks.
