i have an audio lead to the motherboard from cd rom that splits.
1 analogue & 1 digital...i have the connectors on the motherboard...do i connect both? or just the digital connector?

I would connect both so that you have the ability ot play digital and analogue

On the newer computers there is no need to use one of these at all.

As AMD_MAN23 says, check with your M/board manual, and you may find that you do not need to use either. Your digital sound will travel through your IDE cable, as long as it is one of the 80 strand ones. J.

One you can then use the other for DVD

It doesn't even have to be 80 strand, Djohn.

  woodchip 23:32 16 Feb 2003

PS if you connect both I think it will not work

  Djohn 23:47 16 Feb 2003

MAJ, sorry, I must have confused myself with something else. I know that you need an 80 strand cable for something, but just what it enables, I can't for the life of me think of! :o(

IDE ata Hard Disc

  MAJ 23:54 16 Feb 2003

I think woodchip has it Djohn, an IDE ata 100 or 133 Hard Disc. ;-)

Many thanks, I knew I needed to pop out and buy one for something, but is was a couple of months back, and I can't even remember what I did yesterday sometimes!

Now, what was the original question? ;o)
