Audio card not detected

Recently while playing games mostly gta san andreas the game crashes and then when i open it again it says soundcard not detected and i cant hear any sound e.g youtube videos or anything until i restart my pc its not a major problem but its very annoying
before it was once every few days but now it happens 3 or 4 times a day
can anyone tell me whats wrong

Have you tried a driver update via Device Manager ?

What O\S are you ising? It is not uncommon that when an application using the soundcard crashes it takes access to the soundcard with it. I've recently fieleded a question about spotify doing a similar thing under certain circumstances.
What you could try is restarting the Windows Audio service. go to computer management - services - Windows Audio. Right-click this then select restart (or start if it is listed as having stopped.

see if there are patches for gta as they fix games probs.

finnaly it seems to have dissapeared from happening with gta sa butr happens more often with spotify
