Looking in my BIOS I have noticed that the CPU is correctly showing this CPU as a 2.2GHZ, 512Cache Problem is its showing only - Current FSB Frequency as 200Mz I thought these were at least 333MHz or 400MHz FSB.Could anyone please put me right as 200MHz seems to me like an old Duron/Athlon FSB.BIOS has been updated to v1008
showing as 200Mhz when there is 2x PC3200 DDR400 fitted.is my motherboard a dud ?
There's nothing wrong. The correct Front Side Bus speed for the CPU is 200MHz.PC3200 (DDR400) runs at 400MHz, twice the speed of the FSB- it's double data rate (DDR) memory.Similarly, 333Mhz (PC2700 memory) corresponds to a FSB of 166MHz.
I understand that you say it is correct that the CPU is correct showing 200MHzSorry didn't quite understand the other bit ref Memory. Please, is it correct for PC3200 DDR 400MHz CL3 to also show as 200MHz ? So do I understand it is correct to show 200MHz in the Bios for 400MHz DDR Memory ?Also anyone, I have 4 Dimm Slots. which are Blue & Black then Blue Black A1/A2 & B1 & B2I have fitted 1 512MB Dimm in Blue A1 & 1 512MB Dimm in A2 (1 in each of the Blue Dimm sockets)
According to your motherboard's manual your memory layout is okay.DDR400 memory may well show as running at 200MHz in the BIOS.I have PC2700 memory (333MHz) and my BIOS reports it running at 166MHz- the FSB speed on my PC.However, the information displayed on the screen at boot-up says "Memory 333MHz (DDR)".click here and download and install the Home Edition- it's free. Then have a look under Motherboard.See what it says under Memory Bus Properties. In your case it should say:Real Clock 200MHzEffective Clock 400MHz.
currently with a Dud SATA HDD so I will try that midweek.
