Hello....Advent 3511 PC 2.8 P4 512ddr. The reboot disks are nowhere to be found, the Pc crashed, so I reintalled it using f disk, but I could not find drivers for the microstar 6579 mumboard, so i bought a P4i65G socket 478 as a replacement. I fitted it with all the leads cables etc in the right place, but when I turn it on the PC works but my monitor stays Black, I cant even get into Bios, is it something to do with jumpers?...... thats where I begin to get lost.. Thanks for your time.

May be some pics on this link that may help with the connections.

But to me it says the ram is non-compatible with this mobo.

Hope this helps.

Thanks skidzy i read it all!, but my problem is not the pc powering on but the monitor showing anything but a black screen (yes it is on)!!

Skidzy says:

Whys that skidzy? they both fit. but then..what do I know?? Im a seasoned novice.

Some ram will work with some mobo's but not others im afraid as ive found out in the past.

If you would a guaranteed ram that works with your mobo, try Crucial. click here

I may well be wrong, but this does sound like the ram is the problem. If you can borrow a stick of ram from someone,it may help to find out if its the ram.Or try the monitor on another computer to see if this is faulty.

Have you installed a graphics card, this also may be the cause.

Hope this helps.

Thank You skidzy, the monitor is ok as i reinerted the other mobo, minus various drivers, you ever tried to get hold of drivers for a microstar 6579?? they are nowhere to be found!! Thank you again for your help skidzy I appreciate it. I think I will close this thread now, its doing my head in!!
