Are there any Speakers to buy with thicker cables

Wife needs some decent speakers to transport around and plug into a portable CD player but the wires on all the Speakers I have seen come with wire that won't last 5mins if moved coiled up and ran out.

She doesn't need a PA or big amp but just speakers like creative's P380's x2 sats and a subwoofer.

Does anyone know if its possible to get a thicker heavey duty cable and convert with a pin fitting like to plug into a standard computer ?

Try mains cable in a modest amps capacity - I use six amp cable for my hi-fi speakers (never was all that convinced by the expensive speaker cables hype).

I stripped off the outer casing as the wiring runs under the carpet. It should be easy enough to solder to minijack plugs but, if you do have difficulty, it would be a straightforward job for the local TV shop's workshop engineer.

Seems a strange role though for a portable CD player...:-)

Recommend these click here compact, light, doubles up as cd storage. Runs of AA batteries. <£25. Wire is concealed inside.

Presumably your CD player is powered by batteries, this means a fairly modest output in terms of wattage, it is appropriate to use wires designed for this output as great chunks of copper wire full of oxygen and impurities can only limit this output further.

think I will take a trip to my local Maplins and a HiFi specialist shop to see what cables they have.

Would prefer Shielded cable, and a wire/cable a bit like them electric guitars have.

Problem is getting the wire to fit inside a mini stereo jack plug
