I have yet to find any compatible cartridges for the ip4200 which my daughter has or the ip5200. I think that these chipped cartridges, unusual for Canon but I think they are jumping on the Epson bandwagon, are too new for compatibles yet.
"We have recently inspected the new Canon cartridges for the printers listed above and spoken to the compatible brand manufacturers. Canon now has proprietary (patented) parts on the cartridges meaning no one except Canon can make the cartridges or work around the patented parts, at least not at this time."
1st post this so forgive me if I've missed something.
The 5200 compatibles are now on ebay to the relief of myself and a mate I talked into getting the Canon. As mentioned tho, Canon's chips are patented so when you buy these (from ebay anyway) you'll need to take the chip from the origonal and put it into the compatable.
Just how easy this is remains to be seen. I'm a little weary about trying it on a printer that set me back nearly a ton!
If anyone else has any experience of this I'd love to hear what they have to say...
