Are all the cores working

I have searched but I can't find a program which will tell me if all 4 cores are working.

Been having slowdown problems. Intel utility confirms 4 cores but I clcked on something the other day and it came up with a screen asking me how many cores I wanted to use but it only had Core 1 and Core 2 to choose.
When I use Task Manager abd go to performamce there are only 2 windows for CPU usage history should there not be 4 if all the cores are running.
Could the slowdown be caused because only 2 work.
In devise manager 4 show and there are no marks against any of them.

What version of windows, in vista and 7 there are sidebar tools you can install, to view the cpu and cores, with xp you need a third party programme like google sidbar to run similar tools.

hello, kevscar.

to avoid further confusion with marketing, business and engineering nomenclatures, how about identifying the cpu in question and we can hopefully sort this out.

the motherboard and its bios settings may also come into play.

Have you recently upgraded from a Core 2 Duo to a Core 2 Quad?

realtemp and speedfan utilities show 4 core temps.

any possibility: system config/boot/advanced options - processors box ticked? by default, unticked.
