Apps you dont have to install

hello, i have a few little programs/apps that are only a couple of hundred KB at most. I have a chess game and another game that i keep on my desktop - but i never installed them. i can also save then to a memory stick (non-U3) and play them from the memory stick.

my question is is what are these types of apps called (ones that don't require installation)

some applications (many actually) rely sorely on the .exe file that runs them.

Small games such as you have mentioned fall into this category,

Only run when executed.

Basicly they don't need to put anything into the windows registry, they are often referred to as portable apps.(applications).
