The aperture size is the amount of system ram reserved for graphics applications--If your card has 256Mb then it is unlikely to need any system ram---the answer to your question is to run a few benchmarks such as 3dmark 2003 or aquamark with various aperture settings and see if you get any difference.
Pick the lowest setting that works well eg 64 or 128Mb.That will leave more ram available for for the system to work with.
as above with modern systems it doesnt really matter what you set it to so long as its over 16mb i believe.most people use either 64 or 128.some even use 256. i have tried various settings and there is no difference what so ever in benchmarks or games on my system.have a play about with it and see.
