aol - wont logon

My niece's xerox printer broke down so she bought a new Epson printer stylus 79. Whilst completing installation and before it could ask to register I clicked AOL to bring Internet on. It would not log on. Turned off the machine and started again but it still wont start giving exception error. Does anyone know why. Her machine is a Viglen Intel P3, windows 98SE, 128mb memory 40 gig space.

I did not uninstall Xerox before installing Epson, would this throw up a wobbly?

Is the AOL modem connected via USB? Does it work with the new printer unplugged? Are the devices all plugged directly into the PC or do you have a hub? If you have a hub, does it have its own power supply?

Hello brundle

Thanks for your prompt reply. Sorry I forgot to say it is AOL broadband she's using. There are 2 USBs both 1.1. Broadband is on AOL modem and is using one of the usb sockets while the other the newly installed printer.

If it works with the printer unplugged the PC may not be able to supply enough power for both devices;
get a powered hub

Thanks brundle I will do that.
