AOL IM charges

I was with AOL for a few years, but recently changed to TalkTalk.

All AOL payments have now stopped, but they said I can carry on using my account free for emails etc

With the AOL "IM2Mobile" service, you can send texts to mobiles as well. The charge is 6p per text and it says all costs will be added to your AOL bill, and you must be a current account holder.

I spoke to AOL and they said all my direct debit has been cancelled and I won't incur any further charges - so can I safely assume the text service wil be free?

If it still lets you send a text then you can bet you'll be charged for it - but on your TalkTalk bill. AOL and TalkTalk are now a joint company.
