AOL dial up

I have a spare computer which i am giving to a friend. trouble is they only have dial-up and do not want BB.

So i fitted an PCI modem which has installed and xp found it and installed it automatically.

Trouble is, i am due to set it up for them and have never used AOL before. Do they just supply a software disc which you install and then enter you passwords/telephone number etc?

Yes they will supply software and full instructions.

Do you (they) realise that dial-up will cost as much or even more than broadband?

Yes we do realise this, they are worried about security and i cant convince them its safe!I tried.

Have you pointed out that broadband with a (free from AOL) router is much safer.

No dialer virus to worry about, connecting you to an expensive line.

Much less hassle with the software too.

Perhaps it's the "on all the time" part that worries them.
People don't seem to realise that their broadband is only active if the router is switched on.
