Hi all

I'm looking to compile all those ancient holiday snaps and stick them on a slideshow dvd or cd

Trouble is twofold:

1. I haven't a clue about any easy to use programmes as I'm not that clued up with that sort of thing

and

2. I'm a skinflint and I'm looking for a free one that i can download from somewheres

Any and all advice gratefully appreciated

Regards

Steve

If you are running XP there is a program already on your Pc called Wiodows movie maker

There's a new version of Picassa2 now out.

Irfanview can also be used to make slideshows (or even play your MP3 files if you wish!)

You can not produce a DVD file with Movie Maker. It does a good job of assembling the photos etc but will only produce a WMV format not a VOB. David

Do you have Nero as your burning software? Nero 6 comes with Nero Vision Express that will create Slideshows you can burn to DVD but I agree with g0nvs, Photodex is very good and easier to use than Nero, but alas not free.

"....will only produce a WMV format......" - that's not strictly true, you could save the finished production as an .avi file (although be warned .avi files can be huge!) and then using burning software to create the DVD.
