Are you getting anywhere near 8Megs and how long did it take for you to get up to your max speed?

I signed up for it 10 days ago but so far my typical file download speed has gone up from 58Kbps to only 121Kbps.

A line speed checker shows 411.6Kbps against a "possible" speed of 3.4Mbps.

"up to 8Megs"? does not mean you are going to get 8megs, It will much depend on a lot of things as to the max line speed you can get, do more line tests at diferent times of the day to get an average and see what you really get...

I upgraded from 2Megs to "up to" 8Megs in August.

I'm currently downloading two games over STEAM.Total download speed for the game files is just under 600Kbps combined.

I'm 2 miles from my local exchange and my router is connected to the master socket via a 25m standard phone extension kit.

Just run some tests using this checker click here I'm seeing a best of around 5200Kbps from servers in this country down to around 3800kbps in Scandinavia/Holland.Paris gives a pitiful 311Kbps downstream, lol.

The best I get is around 6500-6800Kbps with file downloads up to 800Kbps.

All in all I can't complain.

Your figures are very much on the low side......have you checked if your local exchange is unbundled for AOL?

Sorry to jump in on this. I'm going back to AOL this Wednesday from VirginMedia, to my original price plan for £9.99 for 2mb Broadband, I will monitor my speed that I get but all in all I'm 840 Meters from the exchange.

Rob: yeah I was upgrading from their old "silver" product at £9.99 then £14.99 after 6 months.

Anyways, my line was checked by the BT engineer when he installed my pre-filtered master socket and it was good for 5Megs.

8 megs,,,, rolling around with laughter now... try 2 megs here...

Thats what I need realist "An additional Master Socket". I know a friend who works for BT I will have to give him a buzz to sort it out for me, thing is I do allot of Downloading mainly Torrents but not all the time, I like gaming, I think the way my current line is now is totally screwed up.

It seems although your line is good for 5 Megs, AOL's network capacity isn't :(

I always get at least 7.2 Megs, any time of the day or night.
