Any views on Ghost Surfing?

I recently installed Ghost Surf from a CD on the front page of another mag (horrors - not PC Advisor - can I continue ??!)

This connects via a proxy server and claims to keep your identity secrect. It also blocked pop-ups, although it was possible to override this.

I then found I had a problem accessing nearly every site which interested me and had to select the option to connect to the site normally. Also, I had a temporary problem with dial-up networking in that I could not save my username and password. When I contacted my ISP (Virgin Net), they said that I should not be connecting via a proxy server - although they did not say why.

I should be interested to know if anyone else has tried Ghost Surfing and their experiences.

Not Ghost Surfing, but similar program...

Had no end of problems, including not being able to use "live update" programs for antivirus etc...

Problem was that it altered all my connections, not just my browser settings. Not worth using in my opinion

I loaded it but it was slowing me down so it's been relegated to start if I need it. I may try it again. I am on Dial-Up
