Any idea how I run Restore?

without going through Start > All Programs > Assessories > System Tools?

As this and "all other Shoutcuts" have been disabled!

You can use system restore from the F8 start up menu. e.g. safe mode etc.

start the computer and keep pressing F8. Pick the start in safe mode with command prompt and enter

From microsoft click here

I take it you can't get at it via windows

or do you want to know how to re-enable it in windows?

Managed to run Restore in Safe Mode.

Now why did I not think of that?

It's amazing what panic does to the "old" grey matter!

Now I'm back to trying to sort IE7's link problem.

Should be a piece of cake after that little effort!

Blind panic throws all of us, sometimes;-)

Glad you have it sorted.

F8 does not get me straight into Safe Mode as it used to on previous PC's.

It gets you to a page of Drivers.

You then have to snooze for a couple of minutes (and I really mean nearer 5) until it moves on

" F8 does not get me straight into Safe Mode as it used to on previous PC's."

With XP it can take a few minutes to get into safe mode. It lists those drivers and can sometimes hang there for awhile.

I think thats what you mean?
