Go on then, post the data and the type of graph you want.

The graph which i need is a scatter graph with the following information with alcohol on the x axis. The graph shows the relationship between amount spent and alcohol

Region Alcohol Tobacco
North 6.65 4.60
North East 6.46 4.25
West Midlands 4.63 3.18
East Midlands 6.03 3.29
South West 4.44 3.23
Wales 4.85 3.60

Could you work the correlation coefficient (R-squared)

and

the equation of the linear regression

Thank You So much

Highlight the columns of numbers representing alcohol and tobacco.

Click on the Chart toolbar button and follow the wizard to create the chart.

On the chart sheet that you have created, Chart/Add trendline, select linear and on the Advanced tab tick the boxes to display the equation and R-squared.

what version of Excel are you using im using Excel 2000 and dont seem to find what you are looking for

  VoG™ 18:44 16 Apr 2003

Excel XP (2002) but it has been the same with Excel from 97 onwards (at least).

If you are looking at the chart sheet, you should see a "Chart" menu item (inbetween "Tools" and "Window"). If you click on it you should see a list of options - "Add trendline" is one from the bottom.

Thank you for that how did you get the linear regression,

sorry but i dont understand

  VoG™ 19:00 16 Apr 2003

Click on Add trendline.

A dialog box with two tabs will pop up. On the Type tab, click on Linear if it isn't already highlighted. Then on the Options tab tick the boxes to display the equation and R-squared - sorry I called this the Advanced tab earlier.
