Blueyonder advised me to get a better firwall than XP homes. Is there any good free ones.

ZoneAlarm (click here) is good for Windows XP and there is a free version with all the features you need.

Sygate personal firewall,
does a good job, easy to use and doesnt keep giving you pointless scary messages to frighten you into upgrading to the non free verion,
like many ive tried.

chances of a home user being attacked that way are pretty slim,
from what i read from the experts on this forum.

Gaz W. Do you leave XP firewall in place, or disable it. If you disable it do you do it after installing Zonalarm. Because I know if I remove protection for one second I cop a bad backdoor trogan.

Zerotolerance. What is your answer to the reply I gave Gaz w.

Personally I would download ZoneAlarm, Disable the XP firewall, then install ZoneAlarm. The few seconds that you are without a firewall during the installation isn't going to matter.

If you install another Firewall disable the one in XP.

How do I disable the XP firewall??
Realise this is a question I should know the answer to - maybe it's just too early in the morning!
Thanks.

If you go into control panel/network connections/right click your connection then select properties /advanced and remove tick from firewall.
