AntiVirus Live - is this a virus?

  Barnacarry 12:17 21 Dec 2009

Whilst reading subjects in the Speakers's Corner another screen appeared apparently going through an online antivirus check of my computer 9It was called 'Antivirus Live'. Now I am geetting Infiltration alerts about password-stealing attacks, a trojan-dropper or similar. I then get more security warnings every time I try to open a file and particularly when I try to execute Malewarebytes and my own antivirus software. Even while I'm typing this the alerts keep coming and it keeps asking if I want to 'activate my antivirus software now' (which I dare'nt risk).
I have just been flashed to a porn site, which I deleted. I have now been informed, as I type, that I have 34 serious spyware infections and it is stsrongly recommended that I activate realtime protection. Please help, anyone.

Try running your security programs in safe mode.

Just keep tapping F8 as computer starts.

See if you can download this is a pay for program but you get a 30 day trial and it will remove anything that it finds.

If it asks for payment ignore it and carry on with the scan.

I was looking at this when all hell broke loose. click here.
Anyway, I'll see what safe mode can do and get back to you, if I can.

Tried that thread that you were on and could not find anything wrong with it.Opened all of the click here's without any problem.
So not sure that it would have came from that but maybe someone else can check.
The last click here on it was new and never had a security pass from WOT but apart from that I had no problems.

Looks like you are going to have to try Safe mode and see what happens.
