Is it possible to install one antivirus when there is already aother present on the pc?

  Demora 10:19 07 Jul 2007

Erm Yes as lomg as you close the other AV down before installing and using the new one.

2 AVs on one pc isn't a good idea running at the same time though.

BUT yes you could have them and checking Manually etc.

In a word No. You should never have more than one Anti-Virus program running on the same computer. It causes conflicts. It's different with anti-spyware programs. Only run one with real time protection and you can use another one as a scanner only as a backup. J.B.

you may have only ONE INSTALLED antivirus program on the comp at any one time

if you have more than one they will clash and be as if you have NO antivirus prtection at all;

(of interest, many recent threads on the malaware forum log section have shown comps with two (and one had even three) antivirus programs installed; needless to say their comps got into a mess!!! )

you MAY run on line scanners such as Trend micro for a check up which many of us do but that does not get installed on the comp

what do you think you have at present on there?

is to seek out suspicious activity, which alerts it to possible a Viral Infection.

A second AV will appear, to the first, to be a Virus. Which can, potentially, cause chaos.

Many folk advise that you uninstall the old AV before Activating the new.
