Antimalware Doctor

  muddypaws 22:41 26 Aug 2010

I have apparently just caught the above from somewhere with all its scam warnings
ie ' all your private data is being transfered..'
Currently running Malwarebytes scan that has dicovered 4 threats so far on 'C'. I ran MWB routinely earlier this evening which was clear.
Found this link on a PCA search click here
Do you think it is necessary to do all it mentions.
ie turn off system restore in safe mode.
I also read that MWB should be removed and re downloaded.
I also ran Revo Uninstaller in advanced and deleted all files, but I still have two Doctor icons in the tray.
MWB is now scanning 'Q' drive--my regular clone from C, but no increase yet on 4 threats found on C.
Thanks for your advice. mp

Yes is a good site for info on how to remove lots of nasties.

Maybe give this one a run if you don't think Malwarebytes removed everything.

or you have this from Emisoft.

Thanks for advice.
The 4 threats only found on C were all related to the 'Doctor'.
Removed and rebooted and tray icons have gone.
In fact MSE threw up a warning at the attack time ( first MSE warning I have seen) and cleaned them, but obviously not completely.
Many thanks and sorry for the panic!!

Maybe better updating to the pro version of Malwarebytes.
That would have stopped them installing in the first place.
If you look around for coupon codes you can get it cheaper.
It is a one off payment as far as I know.

Will that run alongside MSE?

  birdface 08:52 27 Aug 2010

Should do, I run the full version of Emisoft Anti Malware with no problems with MSE.

Just ran SAS which found one more.
CCleaner cleares a load of junk.
Stopped and restarted Restore last night.
All seems normal now and will consider your suggestion above.
Will resolve.

Looks like you just got rid of it in time.
At least you got a warning from MSE I am still waiting to see if it ever picks anything up.
Mind you a warning is no good if it still downloads on to your computer.
A Anti-Malware program with full time protection would probably have stopped it.
Not sure if there are any free ones about or not.
