Please can I have your opinions on the following.
Which combination of free anti virus/firewall, will be best for student going to uni (likely to forget updates ect) I have a leaning towards Avast-Kerio or Avast-Zone Alarm, or are there better ones?

  skidzy 21:07 27 Jul 2006

Well Avast has auto updating,so will suit you perfectly, and never had any complaints here about Zonealarm...so i think your choice is about spot on.

Good luck in uni

Yep Avast and zonealarm would be the best choice I agree.
and again good luck at uni

Yes i think that is a brilliant combination. in person i have started to go towards avast. Now all you have to think about is SPYWARE Protection.
For this the best combination is Lavasoft Ad-aware SE
and Spybot Search and Destroy.

Best of luck at Uni.

I am not too keen on Zone Alarm, find Sunbelt Kerio much better.

avast!-Kerio for preference, but either option would do the job.
click here for some other free stuff, some of which should be useful at uni.

Why stick to free anti-virus/firewalls?

Many companies offer free trials for anything up to a year.
