Is the AVG anti virus software (free download) compareable to others like Norton etc.

It's ok but it is free so is not up to Norton and the like

There are those on this site that swear by it, and those that don't !!!

There are those that swear by Norton and those that don't!!!

You could download AVG and give it a try as its free, it wont cost...

Me i use Norton , but that's not to say its 'the best'....

In other words there aint no answer!!

click here for avast! 4 , also free for home use. Has best pass record on virus bulletin of the free versions and is a more advanced package than AVG 6.0.

Utter rubbish - how can something "not be up to Norton" just because it is free? Cost has nothing to do with performance.

I and quite a few of my clients swear by AVG - some of whom i have removed "Norton and the like " because they caused so many problems....

Try AVG - it'll cost you nothing to try it.

There are far, far fewer threads complaining about AVG than there are complaining about Norton and there are a lot of users of AVG on here.

"There are those that swear by Norton and those that don't!!!"

I would like to change that to:

There are those that swear at Norton and a few that don't!!!

Note: don't have Norton and AVG loaded at the same time. It's one or the other.

I will have the other, norton caused nothing but headaches when i used it.

But it is a matter of preference....;-o

Yup AVG for me and never had a virus in 3½ years.
