Hi, me again...Just out of interest, until I get a new graphics card and PSU card next month, can anyone tell me if the Radeon 9800 PRO would run off 250 watts without damaging anything?I've been offered it as a back-up...my old card that I was wanting replacing has now officially packed up overnight!!Cheers!Kat :)
....Just about, it's a lower end card, but 250w really isn't enough these day's....If you get a "Reduced performance" message you know why!
I think you might have a problem,I have an old one kicking about and it came with its own cable, needs to be plugged into the PSU and the HDD.So i'm thinking 250 watt PSU is not suitable.
gengiscant is right, I just had a look at the specs and the card requires additional power from a dedicated cable....I'd be very surprised if your current psu has this, so you'd probably be better to wait.
it its a cheap psu that normally comes with pc's it probably can't even supply 250w at full load
