annoying hewlett packard pop up window

I have an annoying hewlett packard pop up window that pops up as soon as I'm online. It asks me to sign up & register my hp product.
I cancel it and tick the box that says 'don't remind me again' but the message keeps returning.
Sometimes it produces 3 or more open windows of the same message. I close them all but at random times while connected to the internet it will reappear. Its been like this for about 2 weeks but I've had the printer for over 2 years. How do I stop these messages? By using my mcafee internet security? Or is there some way I can stop them using windows?? I've tried msconfig & removed HP items from the startup tab but the messages still persist.

Thanks for the help

msconfig should have sorted it. It should be something like hpfsched that you need to disable. Have you checked what the other items in msconfig relate to.

You could try right clicking on the popup and see if you can get to Properties. Look for the location of the .exe at the end of the string and search for it. Deleting this should solve the problem but be sure to set a restore point just in case.
