annoying ads

  montoya 07:37 26 May 2007

Can anyone advise how I can prevent the irritating animated ads which I am getting e.g. across the top and down the side of the page on my hotmail account and also down the side of this forum page? I have the IE pop up blocker enabled and am also using Panicware Pop Up blocker but it doesn't seem to include these type of ads. Thanks.

Looks like you have a problem

1. Run some anti spyware programs such as spysweeper and search and destroy, google them

2. If problem still persist you may need to run Hijackthis and post a log to a suitable site, again google this...

try fully updating that lot and run on full deep scans ; see what they say may be wrong ( may BE nowt); if you still DO GET the ads when you have taken on the Hosts file and rebooted then me thinks you do HAVE an unwanted guest on there::((

see how you get on with that lot? and what windows version and dial- up or BB?

keep this link

as you may need it to register on the specialist froum to get a full health check::))

It's also possible they're flash adverts and nothing
dangerous. click here

that looks similar to the Hosts file (which is free);. still think it worth running the scans to check the comp out though::))

ps; I am on the Hosts text file (courtesy of some nudges from Vog)and see this (and other sites) ads free now; try it and see for yourself if it DOES make a difference? if you still HAVE the ads with Hosts on board then me thinks you are infected and need to run all those scans::))

Thanks all, ran spybot and ad-aware and installed No-Flash per brundle. Can still see the flash ads on certain web pages but at least they are not animated.

out of interest, can you link a page on which you DO see ads ?
