American Keyboard has no Pound Sign?

  Tinkey Winkey 20:51 25 May 2006

There doesn't appear to be a pound sign on my US laptop keyboard, only the $ key.
It is set to UK English from the control panel/regional and language options.

Is there any way to assign the $ key to pound sign instead please?

Under regional & language options> Customise> currency
there's a drop down box to select either dollars, pounds or euros.
If I select the pound sign and apply - I still get the $ sign?

What happens if you hit shift and the 3 key? That's where the £ sign is on my keyboard

Thanks Jacom The shift 3 key is the £ sign, despite being the hash symbol.
So how do I get the hash key now - although I doubt if I will ever use it!?

Try Alt Gr and 3

  Tinkey Winkey 21:19 25 May 2006

What do you mean by Gr?

  Jackcoms 21:27 25 May 2006

I mean the key to the right of space bar which has "Alt Gr" on it!!!

Sorry I don't have it.

And therein lies your basic problem.

You have a naff American keyboard rather than a proper British one.

All I can suggest is that you do a bit of trial and error yourself.

Try 'Ctrl + Alt + 3' - this should give the same result.

Have you got a key with \ and | on it, by the Return key? This should give you #

(I didn't get anything using Alt Gr and 3)
