I have an HP AMD K6 processor hard drive.
1/ Is it possible to upgrade?
2/ Would a more powerful processor eliminate slow loading of programmes etc.?
3/ AMD or Intel & what sort of cost?
4/ Ease of installation?

Well, a new processor would help you run programs quicker. As will adding more memory to your system. however, considering the age of your system, you would have to;

1. Buy new Motherboard
2. Buy new CPU
3. Probably buy new memory
4. Would more than likely need to install a bigger power supply.

If all these tasks seem slightly daunting to you, i think you may find it easier to buy yourself a new PC.

I have a PC techno bloke who could do what you mention but what sort of cost would be involved for buying all those bits?

Well, if he is a decent PC Techno bloke, and not a cowboy, he could be charging under £200 quite easily. Personally, if i was going to be re-building my own system (again) I would look at around the £200 mark.

AMD 2000xp - £50
ECS K7s6a Motherboard - £50
256MB DDRAM - £20
New Case - £20

All these can be found on

You will more than likely need a atx case motherboard and CPU, for it to be worth while
