Hi, just a simple question, or it should be! Can I run bt broadband on a machine with a 400 MHz amd k6? BT's test on it's BB page says it's not fast enough, needs to be 233MHz or more!
Tnx yaesu

well you say you have a 400mhz and bt says you need a minimum of 233mhz? dont make sense;)

An AMD K6 running at 400mhz should be as fast approximatly as a Intel 400mhz computer, so if BT says it needs a 233 and you've a 400 why is it not fast enough?

it's probably just an anomally with BT, not the first, ha ha. It suggests I phone their help line on 0906...... if more advice is needed, but I just thought I'd ask here first. I'm pretty sure it'd be ok. yaesu

with my cable BB with no problem. What I use now with this machine is a K6 III 500Mhz, I don,t think there should be a problem with your 400Mhz.

I think the main point of concern to me would be whether the usb ports are working properly, assuming the modem is usb. If the motherboard uses a Via chipset, some of the era yours is probably from were quite troublesome. Download and run AIDA32 click here. If your motherboard uses the Via MVP3 chipset, then expect trouble. The MVP4 is usually ok.

I used to run BB on a 350Mhz pentium II. All the usb ports worked OK (no reason why they should not).
