AMD Athlon PC (4 pin power plug)

Installed a new mobo in an AMD Athlon PC.

There is the normal 20 pin power supply plug but there is an extra 4 pin plug.

I understood that this was for Pentium 4 processors only. The mobo has a socket for this plug and that manual says to connect both.

Silly question but do i?

The four pin square plug supplies the mobo with 12 volts, which aids in system stability. I know they are used on the latest ABit Nf7-S v2 boards. I have it plugged in on mine.

Cheers. Did wonder why it had the plug if it was just for P4s

That's what's required on my MSI K7N2, using a Athlon XP 2400.
