AMD 64 problems

  User-312386 18:44 07 Sep 2005

Hi all

I have this problem

If i try to open a folder or even a programme, with double click, it takes i would say about 5 seconds to open. After it is open (and then closed) then it will open instantly until the next re-boot.

I can not work out what is doing it.

I have the correct drivers for my Logitech wireless Keyboard and Mouse. I have checked all the setting and they are correct.

I am starting to get a little frustrated.

Checked all settings, have even msconfig down to just a few starting.

Please help

AMD64 3000 ATIX600 PRO 256MB Graphics card. 1GB Corsair Pro ram. Windows XP Pro. 120gb SATA drive and a 180gb PATA hard drive. Windows XP PRO

Not a lot of programmes loaded at the moment

Looks like your computer is too far advanced to run common programs. As it dones this from New??? Have you a old Image you can restore??? or have you tried a Old restore point

to be honest it has done this from the start, i don't think that opening a folder is to advanced mate

I was wondering if my MicroATX board is not up to the job

Try going through the BIOS settings again. Check CPU speed etc

I cant do that mate

My SATA is now my master O/S and my 180gb HDD Pata is now nearly full

I will try and partition it and load XP on that

I thought i would look in the BIOS and noticed that the 1T/2T Memory timings were set to T1 which is slow. So i changed it to auto and now it flies
