Hi

Horror of horrors! I cant find my Works Suite dvd. After insalling new hard drive and XP pro, I am now without my beloved Works Suite 2005!

Is there an alternative (free!)? Ive seen a bit about Open Office and Star Office. I know they appear to be compatible with MS Office, but are they compatible with MS Works? Will I be able to open Works Suite (Word) files, and Works spreadsheets?

Or am I going to have to buy Works Suite again.....?

Hi, it's a bit early in the morning for there to be many people about who would know the definite answer for this but I believe Open Office is compatible. If I were you I'd download a copy and try it to see. You can do no harm by this and, when all said and done, there's nothing to lose except, at the very worst, ten minutes of your time.

Also im just wondering if a word processor document created in Open Office can be opened in MS Office, as I regularly have to send attachments to people.

You just have to make sure you save it as a .doc file.
