Iv'e just had to format my hard drive and re-install the O.S. Before doing it, a friend downloaded all my programes and data to his hard drive and then downloaded it back on to my second hard drive, which is now HD 'E'. the problem is that I do not/ cannot transfer my data from this 'E' drive to my clean fomatted 'C' drive. Any one help please.

What message are you getting when you try to transfer the data?

You may need to take ownership of the files click here

The messages I am getting are 'cannot find this file as this shortcut points to a file that has been moved'

You need to drag and drop the files from E: to C:

Look at the files on your Drive E: - if they really are only shortcuts (you can tell by the small arrow box in the bottom left of the file icon) - then either don't have the files - or you are looking in the wrong place.
