I have just run Aida32 and it tells me I have a Duron 800 processor. My PC is an Athlon XP 2000. I know it is because I built it.

What does Belarc Advisor say?

Aida 32 is an excellent bit of kit and as its free...

The fact that it has incorrectly recognised your CPU is a shame and you should email the creator to file a bug report ;-)

Dipso, haven't got that. Give me a link and I will download it.

Aida32 is very good, as are the others mentioned.

But if you go to System Information (via System Tools) you'll find Windows provides its own very comprehensive and detailed analysis of your system from all aspects.

have you also updated aida 32,i myself run it along with sandra ,and find it a excellent piece of kit ,i particually like the links it provides you with for driver bios upgrades etc -very helpfull ,seems strange that it is identifying wrong as i have run it on countless systems and not once as it let me down ,i suppose there is a first time for everything ,i dunno -best regards hol pol....

Stuartli, System Information in My Computer tells me it is an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ 1.7ghz. So why can't aida32 tell me that? Aida32 also comes up with "unknown" lots of times, eg. sound card unknown, video card unknown, motherboard unknown. I will try taking it off and download it again.

Hi again can you give me a link to sandra.

  Stuartli 17:53 19 Dec 2003

That's because Windows itself is constantly updating information about your computer system from every aspect.

So why bother with a third party utility when you already have the real thing available?
