agp graphics card not recognised

iqon tecso3 pc gigabyte ga 8s1mlh or g-8s651rz mobo on board sis 650 graphics. For some reason i cannot get it to recognise the graphics card in the agp slot. it keeps going for the on board all the time. i have tried a pci card but although installed win xp boots,but it stops at the point of the welcome screen. with the cursor blinking, any ideas

have you disabled the onboard graphics in the bios.?

i couldn't see anywhere to do that. I have just had a look at a similar manual but still the same!

My guess is the card is not compatible with MOBO. Check what AGP slot on the MOBO and what the card is. If it's the right one it should auto disable the onboard card, mine did

How to disable onboard VGA in order to install an VGA card?

Gigabyte M/B will auto-detect the VGA card since the card pluged, therefore you don’t need to change any setting by manual.

i tried a G Force 2 and a tnt2 both 32mb.
Then a PCI g force 2 which installed but couldn't get through the last phase.

Should i try a new card i have a radeon, g force 4 and a gforce 5200
