After pc upgrade, can't install xp.

I've upgraded my PC, Asus P4V800D-X motherboard,
and Intel P4 3.4-E GHz CPU, and a new Wd SATA 250gb hard drive.
When I try to install windows XP, it starts to load the files, then when I press enter, to load XP, I get a message please wait, then after a while it reboots or I get an error message- IRQL-NOT LESS OR EQUAL then it shuts down.
I've removed all the cards bar a new Sapphire Radeon X 1650 XT PCI-E card and it still happens
Can anybody tell me, does the fault lie with the CPU or the Motherboard.
Best Regards,

I think this one should have been posted in the helproom.

Contact the forum Editor with a link to this thread and he will move it to the helproom for you, you are much more likely to get the help needed in the helproom regards.

there are no SATA drivers on the xp disk, these must be loaded separately - have you done this? This is a guide of sorts click here if I remember correctly you can have the sata drivers on floppy or cd-rom, and can usually download the drivers from the hard rive manufacturers website
