advise on wireless modem / router please

  pookie 12:20 23 Sep 2007

windows xp home (sp2), 1.5gb ddr, 3ghz (2.17) barton, x800pro, a7n8x-x mobo, creative audigy se soundcard, creative 4.1 speakers/sub and 550 watt psu. Broadband is ticali 8Mb max but line only supports 3Mb.

I have had a wireless modem/router(D-Link) for several years now. It is a 54mbps one. I have the modem / router in the living room and my desktop in the computer room running interent wirelessly. The rooms are next to each other with thin walls. I also use a worklaptop wirelessly for internet.

I regulary check for spyware, virus etc and all are kept up to date by kaspersky internet security 2007.

Would i notice any greater interent speed by changing to a newer 108Mb wireless modem / router?

Many thanks

short and sweet answer !!!

The 54mbps means the wireless setup you have will be fine up to 5Mb internet connection speed. As you can onl;y get 3Mb, your not gonna see any speed increase.

Sorry if it seemed abrupt but I did answer the question.

I didn't really know what to add that would have been useful.
