Advice on virus removal please

My friends pc is having problems removing some virus/ trojans.

I don't know the exact spec of the pc but he tells me that he is running norton av and I think win me.

He has sent me the following email.

I have tried to delete the files again but system wont let me.
I get an error message. " ERROR DELETING FILE. ACCESS IS DENIED. THE SOURCE FILE MAY BE IN USE"

They are in, C:\_restore\temp
and they are as below.

Has this virus got stuck in his system restore points and if so, how should he address it.

C:\_restore\temp - Restore folder.

Turn off system restore, reboot and it will delete them.

Turn on system restore.

Is the process to turn off system restore the same in win me?

To definitely disable the System Restore feature

*

Right-click on the 'My Computer' icon, and click properties
*

Click the performances tab
*

Click the file system button
*

Now click the repair tab and check the 'Disable System Restore' checkbox
