ADSL/ADSL2+(Broadband Speed)

Wasn't sure where to post this, so I posted it here.
I'm currently in the process of ordering O2 broadband and I was wondering whether they use ADSL or ADSL2+ because says on my line:
ADSL is available at ~6.5Mbps
ADSL2+ is available at ~16Mbps
So, my question is, since I'm ordering the 8Mbps package, if I later upgraded to the 16Mbps package, would I recieve the 6.5Mbps or the round-aboutish 16Mbps?
Sorry if I'm not making any sense but I hope you understand what I mean.

Never mind. I've contacted O2 and they'll get back to me shortly.

ADSL2+ is capable of speeds up to 24MB - ADSL2 for the "up to 8MB".

You need a router which has the ability to handle ADSL2+ speeds; top speed for a USB modem is "up to 8MB" with suitable drivers.
