ADSL Modem Router Woe

I have just bought a laptop so also purchased a Freecom ADSL wireless modem router to set up a wireless connection. Although I have been able to set this up easily on my laptop, so far I've failed on my PC (Acer Aspire E360 - 3 months old). I followed instructions on the Talk Talk website (they are my ISP) and with the modem router but no joy. My OS is Windows XP professional. I can connect my PC wirelessly - used a USB wireless adapter - but would have preferred to hard wire this connection but can't get this to work. I'd appreciate step by step instructions if possible.

Thanks In Advance

John

this could be a network ip address problem - try using the network card properties and manually set the ip address. The range is normally of the order of 102 168 0 [1 to 255]

I have my ADSL Router wired to a PCI Ethernet card. Works great.

Is this done thru' network connections in control panel? I'd appreciate if you could outline the steps.

Thanks

John
