ADSL and Cable on the same PC?

I will shortly be having cable broadband installed at home as my main method of connecting to the internet using my PC (using the ethernet connection). My son will continue using my old ADSL connection with his laptop via a wireless connection.

This might seem a silly question, but can I install a wireless dongle or card on my PC to access broadband via my old ADSL connection, should I be temporarily disconnected from my cable ISP, without having to install/uninstall software, chasnge settings, etc; ? i.e Can Windows XP and Internet Explorer cope with two different types of broadband?

Yes , you should be able to do that , do it with a removable device , like a USB adapter so you only need to plug it in when necessary , disconnect from the cable first , set up the wireless device and make sure it is working well , then you can disconnect from wireless and re-enable the cable connection .
