I have Adobe Reader 7.0.7 and Adobe Acrobat 4.0
Can anyone tell me if I need both on my PC or are they doing different jobs. I am unable to get support info for Adobe Acrobat 4.0 as the link page given is I'm told no longer available. can I safely delete Adobe Acrobat 4.0 which I suspect is obsolete.

I believe you should run 7.0.7 rather than 4.0, they are essentially the same program (ie. Acrobat is the same as Reader) plus 7.0 has some good features if you look beneath the skin.

I suggest that you uninstall 4.0, as 7.0 is just an update,

thanks,

Haddik

Adobe Acrobat 4.0 is quite old but is not the same as Acrobat Reader. Reader lets you read pdf files but Adobe Acrobat is much more.

Thanks 'dumb_haddik' that's as I suspected, but I'm always doubtful about deleting stuff that seems to have been there forever and running in the background, not even sure if I down loaded it or if it came already installed on the PC.

Just in time saw Hold on will do that.

I Believe that there is a lot more features on 7.0, even if it is an older version, and if you wish to create PDF, you can download a PDF printer.

This emulates itself as a printer, so you can create say a word document, then click print, and it will save it as a PDF in the file you specify.

OK but can I get rid of Acrobat Reader 4.0 or do I keep it.

Sorry all to clarify. The programme that I suspect is now out of date is..
ADOBE ACROBAT 4.0

Keep it - you can produce pdf documents with it. Reader won't do that.
