On occassions when I want to save a file say to a CD Drive I will get a message that this is not permitted and I must see the administrator. I am the only one who uses my computer at home no other names are allocated. Can someone please how I clear this most annoying nonsence

If on Vista, then I believe you can rightclick to 'do it as administrator'
Something to do with UAC?
(I only have XP)

As you say 'on occasions', then I assume that other times you are able to save files to CD without any problem.

If so, then the circumstances when you get the error message has to be taken into account. Was the file in use (open) in another program?

What are the properties of the file to be saved? If it's read only, for example. that may cause a problem.

Is it all CD's that cause the problem?

Are you using CD-RW or CD-R?

Has the CD being used been finalised (preventing any other files being written to it)?
