Administrator password - I'm locked out

XP Home: I decided to make my computer more secure by changing the (two) user accounts to limited access from administrator. Also chose to password-protect the Administrator account (as described in an old PCA workshop).

Unfortunately something's gone wrong and I can't access the administrator account - when I try to log in with the chosen password I get an error saying that there's an account restriction (or words to that effect).

The result is I can only login as a normal user - can't use system restore and I can't get into safe mode. Tried to restore a backup's system state but only administrators can do this. Even tried rebooting with the recovery disk but only got straight to the normal welcome screen.

I have got a registry backup from 3 months ago - could merging this help?

I feel like I've locked myself out of the house and the dog's got the keys inside.....

I *finally* got into safe mode at about the 50th attempt - either it's CTRL, F5, F8 or some combination. Was then able to get in and correct my mistakes.

Thanks for the responses.
