Address book missing after virus infection

  Sapins 12:21 07 Feb 2005

A friends computer has been infected with the W32 MOTA [email protected] virus, he has followed the instructions from Symantec to remove and clean the system, but, now the Main Identities of the address book are missing.

Can anyone tel us if this is a result of the virus or is there some other reason.

I have told him to search for "Address Book" to see if it is still on the computer, he will let me know later if it is.

If he finds the address book is still there how can he restore it to Outlook Express?

Find Your Windows Address Book
1. Click Start, and then click Search.
2. Click All files and folders.
3. In the What do you want to search for box, click All files and folders.
4. In the All or part of the file name type, *.wab, and then click Search.
5. When the search is finished, double-click each file to open it. When you have found the correct one (it will contain your Contact information), note the exact location and name of the file.

What your friend needs to do then is to open OE and click on the File menu and Import the adress book into OE, from the location it's at....TT
